As an experience blacksmith making horseshoes for horse pulling cars that transported Gouda cheeses to big cities, Willem Bos decided venture also into making cheese cutting tools for the fast-growing cheese industry. Soon the business was making all kinds of items and tools that were used for cutting cheese. In 1903, the old forgery was demolished and a new one was built. In the years that followed the forgery was transformed from forgery into a household store in 1927, and in 1965 the business was again further developed into a wholesale hardware tools store. By then, it was clear that the family owned company needed to specialize in making cheese tools and it was in 1978 that Bos Kaasgereedschap (Bos Cheese Tools) was founded. The hardware tools business was subsequently sold to Gerritse IJzerwaren in 1997.
